Instance of a service (component)
Instance of a service (component) – is an environment that makes the functionality of a service available. Several such environments can exist, providing essentially the same functionality, but for different purposes and/or for different users.
For example, for an email service, two instances of a service can be created. One of these instances may be used by employees in Moscow, while the other – by employees in Samara.
By linking an instance of a service to an incident, rather than the service itself, the RR Tech Service Management system can accurately calculate the actual level of service provided to each client. For example, if an incident involves an instance of an email service in Samara, it is important that this incident not be included in reports on the email service level of management for clients in Moscow.
Instances of a service are also used to differentiate between the production environment of a service and development and testing environments. This allows incidents affecting the development and testing environment to be excluded from reports on service level management for clients who only use the production environment.
An instance of a service can consist of several configuration units (CUs) – for example, web server applications and software, and several child instances of a service – for example, an Astra Linux service instance and a database service instance. The child instance of a service can also consist of several configuration units (CUs) – for example, Astra Linux servers and Astra Linux operating systems, and several child instances of a service - for example, a storage service instance and a hosting space service instance.
Only person with service level manager role in space can manage these instances.
The [fields/service_instance_fields.md] page presents recommendations on how to use each field in the service instance form.
