Time Entry Fields
The following fields for the Time Entry form are listed, along with recommendations for their use.
Types of Effort
Section titled “Types of Effort”The Types of Effort field selects a type of effort for the time spent. Only types of effort related to the entity for which the Time Entry record is being created can be selected.
Description
Section titled “Description”The Description field provides a brief description for the Time Entry record. This field is available if the option Required is set for the selected type of effort.
Request
Section titled “Request”The Request field displays a request in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
Problem
Section titled “Problem”The Problem field displays a problem in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
The Task field displays a task in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
Workflow
Section titled “Workflow”The Workflow field displays a workflow associated with the task in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
Project Task
Section titled “Project Task”The Project Task field displays a project task in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
Project
Section titled “Project”The Project field displays a project associated with the task in which the Time Spent field was filled, resulting in the creation of a Time Entry record.
The Date field selects the date for the Time Entry record.
Start Time
Section titled “Start Time”The Start Time field displays the start time for the Time Entry record.
Person
Section titled “Person”The Person field displays the person for whom the Time Entry record is being created.
The Team field displays the team to which the person who filled the Time Spent field in the request, problem, or task, resulting in a Time Entry record, belongs.
Time Spent
Section titled “Time Spent”The Time Spent field indicates the amount of time spent on the request, task, problem, or project task, resulting in a Time Entry record.
Effort Class
Section titled “Effort Class”The Effort Class field selects an effort class that most accurately reflects the type of effort for which a Time Entry record is being created. This field is available if the person registering or updating the Time Entry record belongs to an organization using timesheet settings, where Time Entry is enabled and there are two or more effort classes.
The Cost field displays the cost of the time spent. It is calculated by multiplying the time spent by the hourly rate of the person who spent the time. If the cost is entered in a currency different from the workspace currency, it is also displayed in the workspace currency based on the exchange rate as of the date specified in the Date field.
Service
Section titled “Service”The Service field selects the service for which time was spent. If a selected type of effort is associated with only one service, it is automatically selected and cannot be changed.
Client
Section titled “Client”The Client field selects the organization for which time was spent. If a selected type of effort is associated with only one client, it is automatically selected and cannot be changed.
