Product Category fields

The fields of the product category form are listed below and recommendations on how to use each of them are provided.

Image

An image or logo of the product category is added to the Image field. Click on the image to enlarge or edit it.

Name

The name of the product category is indicated in the Name field.

Disabled

The Disabled checkbox is set if the product category can no longer be associated with any products.

Group

You can use the Group field to add a product category to a group.

A set of rules

In the Rule Set field, select the rule set that will apply to products in this category and their associated configuration items (CI). The selected set of rules determines which fields will be available for these products and services. The value in the Rule Set field cannot be changed after adding one or more products to a category. Below is a list that indicates which fields are affected by each set of rules.

A link is automatically generated in the Link field, the name of which is created by combining the values in the Group and Name fields separated by slashes. The link name is written in lowercase with all spaces replaced by underscores. The link cannot be changed after adding one or more products to a category.

UI Extension

In the UI Extension field, select UI extension, which is added to the products in this category.
