Basic project plan phase fields

The fields of the basic project plan phase form are listed below and recommendations for using each of them are provided.

Basic plan (Baseline)

The name of the project baseline plan of which this phase is a part is indicated in the Baseline field. The name consists of the name of the phase that led to the creation of the basic project plan and the date on which it occurred.

Phase

The Phase field indicates the project phase for which the baseline project plan phase was created (at the time the baseline project plan was created).

The tasks of the basic plan

The Baseline Tasks field lists the project baseline tasks that were created for each unfinished task of the project phase (at the time the project baseline was created).

Schedule

The Schedule field indicates the difference in calendar days between the planned completion time of the project phase (at the time of creation of the basic project plan) and the start of the first task of the project, which is part of the basic project plan phase (at the time of creation of the basic project plan). This field also displays the start and end dates of the phase schedule. These dates are set when creating the basic project plan.

Budget

The Budget field shows the planned efforts that, at the time of creating the baseline phase of the project, were supposed to be spent on completing the project tasks included in the phases of the baseline project plan. These efforts are expressed both in time and in the cost of that time.

Current volume

The Current Volume field displays the current total planned efforts for all project tasks included in the baseline phase of the project. The current volume is expressed in time. This field is displayed only if the current volume differs from the budget, i.e. when there is a volume deviation. In turn, a volume deviation occurs if: the planned efforts for a project task included in the baseline project plan phase change; a new project task is added to the project phase; a project task included in the baseline project plan phase is moved to another project phase. A project task that is part of the basic project plan phase is assigned the status ‘Failed’ or ‘Cancelled.’

Actual efforts

The Actual effort field displays the total time spent for all time records related to project tasks included in the baseline phase of the project. These actual efforts are expressed both in time and in the cost of that time.

Remaining efforts

In the field Remaining efforts displays the total remaining efforts for all project tasks that are included in the baseline phase of the project.

Mastered volume

The Mastered Volume field shows the total mastered volume of all the tasks of the basic project plan that were part of the basic project plan phase at the time of its creation. The amount mastered is expressed as a percentage of the budgeted effort, as well as in the time and cost of that time.

Deviation from the schedule

The Schedule Deviation field shows the difference in calendar days between the planned completion time of the project phase (at the time of the creation of the baseline project plan) and the current expectation for the completion of the last project task included in the baseline phase of the project. The deviation from the schedule is expressed in the number of calendar days.

Volume deviation

The Volume Deviation field shows the difference between the current volume and the budget of the baseline project plan phase. The volume deviation is expressed as a percentage of the budgeted effort, as well as in time.

Deflecting efforts

The Effort Deviation field shows the difference between the actual and mastered efforts (i.e., mastered volume, expressed in time spent) for the phase of the basic project plan. The deviation of efforts is expressed as a percentage of the mastered efforts, as well as in time.

Cost deviation

The Cost Deviation field shows the difference between the cost of the actual effort and the mastered cost (i.e., the mastered volume expressed as the cost of the mastered volume) for the phase of the basic project plan. The cost deviation is expressed as a percentage of the mastered cost, as well as the cost of effort deviation.
