Product

Products are created within the R-Service (RR Tech Service Management) system for identifying hardware and software models, and are subsequently used to register individual hardware components (with a unique serial number), versions of software applications, and their licensing certificates. Microprograms (firmware, embedded software) can be accessed in the same way as regular software.

New configuration items (CI) are registered only from a product. When registering new CI, information from the selected product is used to fill as many fields as possible for the new CI.

Each hardware product offers quick access to a complete overview of the CI associated with a specific model. Similarly, each software product provides a list of different versions of the software existing within the organization, and licenses held by the organization for that specific software product.

Only a person with the role of configuration manager in the space space can manage these products.
